Quick dinner (under an hour)

This dinner takes roughly 40 minutes to make, and uses ingredients that most people already have at home. It's also very easy to make. In fact, my sister and I decided to make this about five minutes before starting to cook, and we already had all of the ingredients in our pantry. So here it is: corn soup and buns. (Great served with steamed green beans)
Excuse the bad photos, the lighting was terrible because there was a thunder storm when I took them.

These are the buns... I found the recipe here. We halved the recipe, and made 8 delicious dinner rolls (In this photo, we had already eaten two of them). They took about 30 minutes to make, and for the time it took, the taste was great! They taste much better with butter than plain.

Birthday gift idea on a budget - under $20

My younger sister's birthday was last week, and I thought I'd share what I got for her birthday! Not only did she enjoy all of the presents, It only cost me a total of $18.28. Pretty good, eh?
Side notes: She was eleven turning twelve, and she is obsessed with the colour yellow. :) You can even use the list of what I bought for ideas if you're shopping for birthday presents.

Early Birthday Haul!

My birthday is still a long way away (over two weeks), but I got together with some friends yesterday and went to the mall to shop and have some fun. I thought I'd share the things that I bought, as well as a couple of the presents!

The watercolour notebook and little notecards are a gift from another good friend of mine, and I love them so much! I just think that the macarons are so cute, and as for the Moleskine... wow. I think I'm in  love <3

Japanese-style Pancakes from scratch

Hello everyone! Today I'd like to share a yummy japanese-style pancake recipe. The pancakes are sweet...yet not too sweet (still delicious with maple syrup, true Canadian style). They turn out slightly denser than "normal" pancakes, but do not fear! They taste so delicious and they look so cute you'll definitely want more. (Serves four)
*If you're planning on making this, please read to the end to make sure you have everything you need*

Let Me Introduce Myself...

So... this is it... my first blog post! My name is Akino, but a few people think that my nickname is Kiki... hence the name "akinokiki". :) I'm a 14 year-old girl who is just getting into makeup. I love DIY's, gift-making, baking, and all that good stuff. Outside of all that, I play the violin and I love animals. I'm Canadian, and I'm half Japanese. I speak three languages; english, french and japanese. As I said before, I love animals... I have three cats at home.
Now for the more interesting stuff... my hobbies! I have so many hobbies, but I'll only name three; otherwise you'll be here for hours! Here they are:

•making different breakfasts. I know that's really weird, but I like trying new recipes for pancakes, waffles, crepes, pannekoeken and other brunch foods!
•making homemade presents for family and friends. I love how much thought and creativity you can put into it :)
•makeup: I'm really still a beginner; in fact I barely own any makeup at all. I made this blog partly so that I can share my journey through the land of makeup ;)

Now about this blog. I will be posting DIY ideas, recipes, makeup reviews, or whatever else I feel like talking about... stay tuned for my next posts!

-Kiki :)

*Side note: I probably use way too many exclamation marks and smiley faces, but hey, I like getting my emotions across to the world! :)*
